WAX: Contemporary Encaustic Works

March 1st - April 15th
Reception, Sunday March 4th, 2-4pm
With Wax: Contemporary Encaustic Works PVAC is the first to exhibit a full show of encaustic work in Santa Cruz County! Curated by Wendy Aikin and Daniella Woolf, this international, juried exhibition showcases 77 contemporary artists working with encaustic "wax" - an ancient painting medium (beeswax, pigments, and resin) enjoying a modern renaissance. Today's artists have found many new and exciting ways to utilize this versatile material, including printmaking, collage and sculpture. Participating artists in this exhibit include many of your local favorites as well as those who have sent their work to us from as far away as Alaska and Germany. You will be amazed by the diversity of artwork on display - the processes, techniques, and subject matters demonstrate the scope and range of this exciting luminous material.
